My college contents page is packed full of page subjects that are interesting to the target audience of college students, so all the topics are relative to what students would like from a magazine. Basic research allows me to know what type of style the magazine should be, what content should appear in the magazine and what people expect from magazines. The price should be low because of the low income a student has, as well as the convergance of media, of having a website address on the print. This is to specifically advertise my magazine to the students as most young people spend their time online rather than out buying magazines to read in print media. Young people like quick, easy access to information, so a website is crucial when making a magazine.
The basic arrangements in format of my college contents page, I feel are too compact for the reader, the overwhelming amount of page numbers with topics and boxes to seperate text all seems to be an unsuccessful way of handling the format of the contents page. I think that the reader may look at the page and feel its way too busy, there is alot of writing that could be spaced out or appear tidier to the reader so the contents looks more readable and understandable.
The basic house colour for the magazine is red, white and black, I think that this colour range is something that I will stick to because I feel that young people like a simple modern look to a magazine, so lacking of colour is a good way to appear simple, but the red instantly brings some modern daring tone to the magazine. The college students that the magazine is aimed for will be able to look at the topics they want to read about, as the subjects are seperated, the style of the magazine being something that all stereo-types can be attracted to as it contains topics for all types of people, for example: sport for sporty types, events for everyone, fashion that can be ranged for every dress-type, and lifestories and typical regulars that would interest a range of students like horoscopes and competitions.
I think that this contents page has a long way to go to looking professional as the skills that I have on photoshop are very basic, but with more knowledge and practice with the program, as well as more analysis of real magazine covers and contents, I feel that the main task will be more professional and fit to a specific audience rather than a wide-ranged one.
