My idea for my music magazine, 'Buzz' is to be a music-orientated fashion and lifestyle magazine, that will be monthly and include things that will attract my target demographic.
My target demographic are individuals from the age of 16-25 years old who take a particular interest in music, festivals and fashion. People who stereo-typically have a certain style that represents who they are, for example, indie readers who buy brands like Fred Perry, Lyle&Scott and Abercombie&Fitch, and shop in vintage shops, Topshop, and take a particular care to how they come across phyiscally, with their music reflecting their image.
I am going to advertise brands that will interest both these females and males, make-up adverts will be included but I will include both branded and high-street shop clothes with cd ads for particular popular bands who will attract the audience. Advertisements for hair products, music products (headphones/cd's/dvds/gig tickets) and upcomign festivals will appear in the magazine because I feel these would prove popular.
My magazine will be an upmarket magazine, for a young unisex audience, who take a interest in lifestyle, fashion and music all in one magazine, and will hopefully be solus readers as the magazine will be unique rather than very mainstream. The magazine will appear to be something read that is aimed at that one person, because focuses on individuals rather than mainstream fashion and music.
I think my magazine will be similar to NME, because not only is there an awful lot of content on music, there is fashion, lifestories and events that will interest the 'Indie' readers that will be attracted to the content of 'Buzz' Magazine. I have chosen to have a monthly magazine as I believe that young people would rather have alot more content in one magazine for the whole month, with more exclusive interviews and contents, due to the fact that weekly magazines can get to be a chore, as the content can become unappealing when there hasnt been anything bid, new and exciting happen that magazines can write about. The price is also lower than NME, depsite NME being a weekly magazine, the price being at only £2.10, this promotes the magazine as being cheaper for more content, so when competing with NME, might have the upperhand on the scale of young readers earning a relativly low income.
